This kind of inconsistent media publicity leads to a population that gorges on fast food, takes a car to drive to a store just a block away and sits in front of the TV for hours with a sugary drink and some fat-rich snacks. And when they get fat, they seek the easy remedy, diet pills, fad diets like Atkins, liposuction (actually a cosmetic surgery and not fat reduction method) and gastric bypass surgery (a remedy only for those morbidly obese). To any dispassionate observer, the irony is clear. Sell things that make people fat and then sell them things to reduce that fat. Of course this leads to ?economic development? with plenty of economic activity all around and plenty of ads for the media. One unfortunate group that has become a tragic victim of this irony consists of the teenagers who suffer from anorexia nervosa. Even when they are abnormally thin already, the sufferers think that they are very fat, and decide to stop eating altogether. Without nutritious food, their muscles and bone mass get worn away, teeth get decayed, livers get damaged, nails and hair become brittle, complexions become wan and immune systems deteriorate. They move even farther away from the slim beautiful girls they want to be. Losing weight quick is not a healthy option. The healthy way to achieve normal weight is through a healthy diet and exercise. Eat vegetables, fruit and fish instead of the diet pills. Decide to walk or cycle instead of driving. Take up some sports or other physical activity instead of lying on a surgery table for liposuction or gastric bypass. The results will not be evident immediately. In fact, you cannot start on all these all of a sudden. Small changes, gradually increased over a long period, and followed consistently, constitute the key. The results will also be gradual. The instant gratification of liposuction or gastric bypass will not be there. On the other hand, the pain of surgery will also not be there. Don?t focus on how to lose weight quick. Instead focus on how to lose weight healthy. You will begin to really enjoy life instead of leading it like a drug addict.
